Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Debating and public speaking offer secondary students valuable opportunities to enhance their critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills. These activities encourage students to articulate their ideas clearly, listen actively, and engage respectfully with different perspectives. Additionally, participating in local and state competitions helps build confidence, resilience, and leadership, preparing students for future academic and professional success.
Creative and performing arts
Our Creative and Performing Arts programs - including drama, music, dance, musical theatre, vocal, and visual arts - provide students with exciting opportunities to explore their creativity and express themselves. Through a variety of activities such as concerts, art exhibitions, drama productions, interest groups, and transition programs, students can develop their talents and build confidence. With numerous performances and showcases throughout the year, CAPA fosters a vibrant and supportive environment where students can thrive artistically and personally.
Excursions
Our students enjoy opportunities to get out of the classroom to explore, learn, and try new things. These experiences enrich their education by helping them grow, build confidence, and understand how their learning connects to the real world. Engaging in hands-on activities and real-world experiences enhances their skills and deepens their understanding, preparing them for future challenges.
Post School Preparation
We offer an extensive program to prepare students for life after school, providing comprehensive support in career planning, work experience opportunities, Vocational Education and Training (VET), and university partnerships. This program equips students with the skills, knowledge, and experiences they need to confidently transition into further education, training, or the workforce.
Student Leadership Development
Students are offered numerous pathways and opportunities to develop their leadership skills both inside and outside of school. These include leadership development programs, peer mentoring, involvement in sports, debating, dance coaching, student voice activities, and more. Through these experiences, students build confidence, responsibility, and the skills needed to become effective leaders in their school and community.
Sport
We offer an extensive sports program that includes recreational, fun, and competitive opportunities for all students. Our in-school programs are complemented by participation in interschool competitions, knockout gala days, and specialist coaching across a wide range of sports. This diverse offering encourages students to stay active, develop their skills, and enjoy the benefits of teamwork and healthy competition
Cultural Education
Cultural education, connection, and leadership for our Aboriginal students are deeply embedded in our school practices and enriched through programs such as partnership with the AECG and local community, Dharug Dhalang, Pathways to Dreaming, art, dance, and more. We also foster cultural connection for all students by welcoming international students and encouraging participation in community and cultural programs. These initiatives promote respect, understanding, and celebration of diverse cultures within our school community.
