Resumes
A resume should be concise. It should be about one page and no more than two. It should be saved on a computer or USB so that it can be updated with further information as required. A good resume should contain:
- personal details such as name, date of birth and address
- educational background
- work related skills
- employment history—starting with most recent jobs and working backwards
- interests
- work and personal referees (3 is a good number).
Common errors and things to avoid:
- not being truthful
- spelling and grammatical errors
- not asking personal referees permission to use them.
For more details, download the sample resume (DOC 29KB) as a guide to creating your own resume.
